Pigeon River Habitat Corridor: City of Sheboygan, Maywood
Sheboygan River Basin Partnership
A group of public, private and non-profit partners are actively working to restore fish and wildlife habitat within approximately 550 acres along a 3.4-mile stretch of the Pigeon River and estuary, extending from the Lake Michigan shoreline west to Interstate 43 in the City of Sheboygan. The overall landscape context consists of a forested riparian greenway within urban surroundings, which provides key functions in preserving connected wildlife corridors, protecting aquatic and riparian habitats, and providing urban greenspace and recreational opportunities. The Pigeon River corridor has extensive hiking trails, a disc-golf course, swimming beach and boat rentals at Quarry Park, abundant fishing opportunities, and diverse outdoor education opportunities at Maywood Environmental Park.
