Peter Vander Velden

Peter is a Cybersecurity Engineer for the University of Wisconsin - Madison by day, and a parent, environmental advocate, and community leader by night. He lives in Port Washington with his wife and two kids, having moved back to the area in 2020 after starting a career and family in Madison, WI. Peter grew up in northern Ozaukee County and after attending UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater earned degrees in Management and Information Technology.
Beyond his technical experience, Peter is deeply committed to the environment and community service. As the co-chair of the Ozaukee County Watershed Coalition, he works with a variety of environmentally focused nonprofits based in Ozaukee County to champion environmental conservation and sustainable practices. His involvement with organizations like Lake Michigan Bird Observatory and the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust underscores his passion for preserving natural habitats.
Peter’s community engagement extends further as a Board Member of the Port Washington - Saukville Rotary Club and a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Port Washington. On weekends, you’ll find him on the soccer field, coaching young talents with the Port Washington Soccer Club.
When he’s not securing networks or advocating for the environment, Peter indulges in his love for traveling, camping, and hiking.
