LNRP and GBCP Formalize Collaborative Relationship with Aim of Broader Regional Impact
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, April 8, 2020
CLEVELAND, WIS. – Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Green Bay Conservation Partners (GBCP). The two organizations, which share similar goals, have agreed to establish a formal collaboration, according to leadership of both organizations. LNRP is northeast and east central Wisconsin’s leading voice and advocate for the waters which drain into Lake Michigan and GBCP is a regional conservation partnership coordinating conservation activities in the northeast Wisconsin region of the Green Bay watershed.
“Over the past several years, GBCP is proud to have made a significant difference in providing information sharing and networking opportunities for conservation professionals in northeast Wisconsin,” said Nicole Van Helden, GBCP Co-chair and also Director of Land Conservation at The Nature Conservancy. “Our natural resources are important for our economy, recreational activities and quality of life – and we believe this more formal collaboration with LNRP will help us advance our mission.”
Tom Mlada, Executive Director of LNRP, enthusiastically agreed.
“Our LNRP Team is ecstatic to welcome GBCP to our growing network of regional conservation partners,” Mlada said. “GBCP has functioned very successfully as a critical thought leader and impassioned advocate for collective, positive action within communities of the Green Bay watershed, and LNRP is committed to helping them magnify and sustain that impact in the years to come.”
On April 23, GBCP will host its annual “Spring Roundtable,” providing an inspiring opportunity for collaboration and sharing among regional conservation practitioners, researchers and stakeholders. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the event will be held virtually this year.
GBCP was created in 2014 to connect individuals working on natural resource issues for government agencies, tribal nations, universities, nonprofit groups and others within the Green Bay watershed. GBCP has developed a “Conservation Blueprint” to strengthen and expand the collaborative conservation community, provide a strategy for pursuing shared goals and priorities, and help leverage funding to bring the collective vision for a resilient, sustainable, and economically thriving watershed system to life.
Collaboration with conservation partners aligns well with LNRP’s mission, positioning the organization since 2003 to advance its message of environmental and economic balance through wise stewardship of vital natural resources such as ground and surface waters and soils. More broadly, LNRP now serves as the parent organization of 15 unique regional network, watershed group, and community group partners all engaged in the work of natural resource protection. In facilitating citizen engagement through community education and action, LNRP champions working lands and waters, sustainable natural resources, and abundant wildlife and natural habitat.
