Friends of the Manitowoc River Watershed (FMRW) is looking for volunteers to support a native wetland plug planting event as part of a larger restoration effort at Lower Schuette Park, in the City of Manitowoc.
Native plugs will be installed in a wetland area near the kayak launch to provide wildlife benefits, reduce storm water runoff, increase filtration, and provide a vibrant space for park-goers to enjoy for years to come.
• Location – lower parking lot of Lower Schuette Park in Manitowoc
• Date – May 22 (alternative rain date – June 5)
• Time – 9:30-11:30 am and 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Rain date, June 5 (same times)
• Contact Info – Please email us if you plan to help so we can have enough refreshments and can plan safe distancing. fmrwinfo@gmail.com
• Volunteers should come prepared to get muddy, and bring gloves and planting tools (shovels, trowels, dibble bars)
• REFRESHMENTS and LIGHT SNACKS will be provided, with support from MEIJER, KWIK TRIP, and FLEET FARM. We are grateful for their support!
