The United States is producing more fossil fuels than ever and selling them to the rest of the world as climate change increasingly makes its presence known through heat waves, wildfires, droughts and floods. The destructive impacts of the energy export binge are being felt from the oil fields of West Texas to the vast ports of Asia. Blowout: Inside America’s Energy Gamble is an investigative look at the climate, public health, economic and social consequences of the U.S. fossil-fuel export boom. It is a collaboration among the Center for Public Integrity, The Texas Tribune, The Associated Press and Newsy.
Audio for the film will be available both through outdoor speakers and radio. Attendees at the screening are welcome to bring lawn chairs and sit outside, or to remain in their cars; bringing portable radios will eliminate the need to keep engines running. The screening will be in the church’s back parking lot, accessible from North 18th Avenue. The lot accommodates 35 cars.
