Volunteers are needed to assist in conducting inventories of public trees in participating townships in Sheboygan County. David Kuckuk, Environmental Park Director of Ellwood H. May Environmental Park, will lead this training on the essentials of tree identification. Volunteers will learn how to identify species not only by leaves, but through examining other characteristics such as texture, smell, growth form, and habitat.
Volunteers will put their new skills into action during the weeks immediately following the training session, with flexible times and dates depending on volunteer availability. Work will continue as weather permits and resume in Spring of 2020. Data collected will be used to inform management plans to help towns mitigate the impact of the Emerald Ash Borer.
