Mary Nelmark

Mary Nelmark was LNRP’s Summer 2024 Public Health Intern. She graduated in August 2024 from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with a degree in Public Health and Community Health. Mary has a passion for environmental health and helped bridge the gap between conservation efforts and public health during her time with LNRP. Her interests include air and water quality impacts on public health, connections between healthy ecosystems and the prevention of disease, and how natural green spaces positively impact human health. She believes that a healthy planet fosters healthy communities.

Mary is originally from Detroit Lakes Minnesota. Outside of school, Mary loves any activities involving the outdoors. She enjoys downhill skiing, hiking, paddleboarding, tennis, and being on the water. When she is back at home in Minnesota, she likes to hang out with her family and two dogs.
